A Few of Our Favorite Essential Oils to Help You Through Cold and Flu - Essential Charms

This is the time of year when you are almost afraid to go out in public because every where you turn there is someone coughing or sneezing. The germs are out to get you. But we have a few suggestions that you might find helpful.

Lemon Oil

The first of our favorites is lemon oil. It is like instant sunshine and it's good for the body and mind. It contains a high amount of vitamin C which is good for the immune system. If our immune system is strong and healthy it has a better chance of fighting off those nasty germs that are floating around. The citrus smell is refreshing and uplifting which makes it a great option for our lava stone jewelry as well.

Peppermint Oil

The next oil we'd like to mention is peppermint. We know we've talked a lot about peppermint lately but that's because it is so versatile! It's not only a favorite candy that you see in abundance this time of year, but it is also good for relieving headache pain that can be associated with the common cold or other illnesses.

Tea Tree Oil

Congestion is one of the annoying symptoms that comes along with colds and flu. Put a few drops of tea tree oil in a diffuser or wear it on a lava stone necklace and fight the congestion all day long in style.

Thieves Oil

We saved the best for last. Thieves oil. It has been around for ages. It is a blend of lemon, clove, eucalyptus, cinnamon and rosemary, so you are getting the benefits of 5 oils! Thieves is good for air purification in your home, it has antibacterial and antiviral properties, and helps with chest congestion and stuffy nose. It is a do-it-all oil.

We are in no way suggesting that using essential oils should take the place of getting plenty of rest, drinking your fluids and seeing a health care provider if necessary, but they are a good enhancement to your overall health and well being.
